All India Radio (AIR), officially known by the term Akashvaani (Voice from the Sky). Since the year 1957, is recognized as the national public radio broadcaster of India and a division of Prasar Bharati.
All India Radio happens to be the largest radio network in the world and is deemed to be one of the largest broadcasting organizations in the world, basically in terms of the number of languages that it broadcasts, and the spectrum of socio-economic and cultural diversity it serves. AIR's home service comprises 420 stations located across the regions of the country.
